This "Christian" woman is never happy?

My mother cringes when I mention how I have an opportunity to work as a bilngual receptionist. I once I got hired as a bilingual telemarketer ($12/hour), she convinced me not to attend orientation because how it would affect our government's household support.She's never happy, always waiting for a miracle to happen. She says I don't know how to drive so she won't lent out her car to me, when all my friends impose to me that they are surprised that I don't have my drivers license. She's never happy. Always depended on men or God to put a smile on her face. She's greedy. Every time things went "wrong" for me growing up, she was quick to tell me "castigo de Dios", Spanish for "punishment from God".
