Is there any superstition lucky or unlucky to a turtle showing up on your doorstep?

I don't know where the fellow came from, but it's a pretty nice sized box turtle and he was right there when I opened the door today. Scared the living mess out of me. He has a hook caught in his mouth and I tried to take it out with a tweezer but it's in there pretty good, so if my husband can't remove it tomorrow I probably will take the critter to a vet. There are no drainage ditches around here or anything, kind of weird for a turtle to show up all the way up the driveway and at the door. He can move pretty well, so I'm sure no one just put him here. I've had a lot of strange things happen to me this month so I'm just paranoid and sorta superstitious!
