80'S costume theme differences and ideas!?

we are having a contest at work, and our dept. is voting on what theme to do....they have punk new wave, glam rock, or t.v. shows.....i don't know which idea is going to win, but i have no clue what i could wear.....i wanted to do the side ponytail with like bright colors, leg warmers and stuff but i don't think that goes in these categories....please send me ideas on each of these...pictures would be better...i wanted to look really cute and but still girly!!....thank you so much!!
