As a Christian, is Tubal ligation wrong to have done if you know you can't afford to raise anymore children?

I don't know how this procedure is done, but if it still allows the fertilization of an egg, but prevents the implantation of the egg, then you are basically going to cause countless abortions, and that would be evil, so obviously don't do it if that is what happens.
